Prato Smeraldo uses a transmitter system of six "Brown Boveri 100 KW set" for all the shortwave broadcasts.
An old Marconi 100 KW set is used as a backup for the main systems.
All the transmitters are remote controlled from an analogue and digital console with all the information about power output, transmitting frequency, SWR level, etc displayed there. Each Brown Boveri transmitter uses a SGS Thomson valve with water cooling and a digital system for the AM modulation control.
Twelve technicians work all day long to check and set up the transmitters and all of the Prato Smeraldo antennas.
